One of the benefits of PVC doors and windows is the little maintenance they require to ensure an impeccable appearance and durability of more than 50 years. At Eurowindows we want to give you some useful tips so that your windows and doors look like the first day.
How to clean glass and crystals?
Lime stains, also known as tartar or water stains, are formed by the deposit of calcareous salts, produced when hard water evaporates on the glass.
These stains or incrustations may or may not be resolved, depending on how much time has passed since they occurred.
Recent stains
They can be eliminated almost completely by simply using white kitchen vinegar for maintenance, applying it pure on a sponge or not very abrasive fiber and rubbing the stained part of the window or glass, wait a few moments and rinse with clean water, repeat the process if is necessary and then clean the glass normally.
Old stains
In the case of glass that has been embedded with lime stains for a long time, the only solution is to polish the glass with a very fine polishing paste, the kind used to polish car paint, applying the paste on a clean, dry cotton cloth. and rub the stains until they disappear. In some cases with very old stains, this is impossible, and we must apply at least one treatment to improve them as indicated above. In any case, a good tip for caring for the windows in our house is to avoid splashing water during cleaning or watering the park, or if the glass gets wet, it is best to dry it immediately. The same method is applied for the correct maintenance of bathroom screens and glass, since these must dry quickly after each shower.
